Two ways to manage packages from the command line.

Command line based installs, or a GUI like interactive text interface.  Please note that the interactive interface may have problems with various OSX terminals.  

h2. GUI package management

If you have X11 installed it is possible to use GUI tools via ssh.  The minimal subset of packages to make this happen are part of each boxcar to minimize frustration with this powerful tool.  X11 comes with OSX installation media, is installed by default with all linux desktops, and is available for Microsoft Windows.

Web based package management tools exist for debian, but special care is required for dealing with security.
